A highland cow is mostly hair: a long ginger fringe over the eyes, a shaggy coat and two wide horns. The fringe is the hard part to sculpt, and these six 3D printed highland cow models all make a feature of it. Two are figurines for a shelf, three hold something useful, and the last pair swaps the fur for a knitted texture.

Cute Highland Cow Statue

A ginger cow lying down, with a thick wavy coat, cream horns, a curled tail and dark hooves tucked under it. The fur is the most detailed of the six, so it suits a shelf where people will see it up close.
Highland Cow Figurine

A calf sitting upright and facing forward, with a fluffy brown coat, big round eyes, a cream muzzle and short horns. The pose is compact, which makes it an easy fit for a desk or a child’s room.
Highland Cows That Hold Something
These three are decorations with a job.
Shaggy Highland Cow Planter

An orange cow with an open back that works as a pot. In the photo it holds a clump of white daisies that rises between the horns.
Highland Cow Pen Holder

A chunky rust-colored cow with a hollow body. Set next to a keyboard, it takes a full handful of pens, pencils and scissors.
Highland Cow Yarn Bowl

A long, low cow lying down, with a bowl in its back for a ball of yarn and a slot in its side for the strand to run out. It’s a good gift for anyone who knits or crochets.
Knitted Highland Cows
Knitted Highland Cow

Cream calves covered in a cable-knit texture instead of fur, with pink ears, tufted fringes and tails. The photo shows two of them, one sitting and one lying down. They look softer and quieter than the ginger cows.
From the Shelf to the Highlands

Highland cows come from the Scottish Highlands, and so does a lot of film scenery. In Glen Nevis, beside the River Nevis and under Britain’s highest mountain, the Braveheart crew built the village where young William Wallace grows up. The village came down when filming ended, but the car park made for the shoot is still called Braveheart, and the walking paths that start there include a circuit of Cow Hill. The Braveheart filming locations are mapped, from Glen Nevis to the buildings in Ireland that played York and Westminster.
